Charles A. Cowman founds the Oriental Missionary Society in Japan with a vision for trained national workers planting indigenous churches.
Allahabad Bible Seminary founded in July 1942 under OMS International with 18 students. Dr. Eugene & Mrs. Esther Erny head the inaugural staff, joined by Wesley and Betsy Duewel.
The seminary draws students from across India. Major denominational churches and missionary societies begin sending candidates for residential training.
ABS launches Hindi-medium programmes, making theological education accessible across North and Central India.
ABS affiliates with the Senate of Serampore College (University), giving its B.D. and B.C.S. degrees nationally recognised standing.
The Centre for the Study of Indian Culture & Society (CSICS) is established. Distance and extension programmes expanded significantly.
Under Principal Rev. Dr. Tapas Ghosh, ABS serves students from 26 states of India with residential, extension, and distance programmes.
